Roasting chestnuts in your oven is easy and convenient!  All you need is a sharp knife, a baking sheet and an oven!

Preheat your oven to 450F

Using a sharp knife, cut the shell of the nut either across the width of the nut or in an “x”
Be sure to cut both the outer and inner skin. Demonstration of chestnut scoring

Lay the nuts on a baking sheet in one layer with the cut facing up. Roast them for 25-35 minutes. The shell should spread away from the cut.

Check one nut at 25 minutes for doneness.

Let the nuts rest wrapped in a kitchen towel, 10 minutes or until cool enough to peel. Make sure you peel the inner skin as well!
